A: If you have your own website that you would like to share with our family, please email Max Duykers so that I can link it to your name on the family tree and list of names pages. Otherwise, I can make a page for you for free at http://wordpress.com. On your Wordpress page you can post announcements, pictures, stories, movies, your biography, and whatever else you would like to share. I will create this page for you using your email address, and I will create your own login password. I can use a basic template for you (click here for a sample) and help you get started on updating your page (there are a number of other templates and designs that you can use if your prefer). If you are not "web-savvy" and need help creating or posting to your page, I am happy to help.
Q: What if my parents or other family members do not use computers - can I make a page for them?
A: Yes. Wordpress is great because you can have several different websites all linked to your username, password, and email address. This allows you to make sites for your family members who are not "web-savvy." Contact Max Duykers for help, or visit http://wordpress.com to begin making your page(s).
Q: How do I update the News page or the pages of deceased family members?
A: Go to the News page and click "LOG IN" on the right side under the BERMAN-LEVITSKY LINKS.
You will be redirected to http://wordpress.com. On the left side, enter the username of bermanlevitskyorg and the password of bermanlevitsky.
You can check "Remember me" so that yo will not have to type the username and password again.
You will now see the sites you can edit - those of deceased family members and the News page. Click one of these sites. Do not click "Register another blog!" If you want to create your own page, go back to http://wordpress.com and click Sign Up Now! to begin creating your page. If you need help with this, let me know.
Once you have logged in to one of the pages under the bermanlevitskyorg username, notice the header of the page:
Everything you will do modify these pages can be done here. Click Manage to see existing posts or pages (if you want to add to exisiting pages, do this here). Click Write to add a new post - this will appear with a heading and your text or stories, pictures, etc. (See the News Page for an example - this is a standard "blog" where you keep adding posts with updates.) You can also click Visit Site to see what your changes look like.
This takes a little getting used to, and you can always click Help or Forums on the top right. If you get frustrated and want me to help you, please let me know, and if you prefer to just email me your announcements or content, I am happy to post them for you.
